Who is Uazundaiye Tjiraso?

My name is Tjiraso Uazundaiye, and I have always loved farming and I always wanted to study something that has to do with nature. After completing my high school, my sister (Mis.  Tjiraso) encouraged me to enroll for an agricultural course at the University of Namibia (UNAM), at which I did Bsc Agriculture (Animal Science) Hons. During my course of study at UNAM, I was exposed to different types of farms and farming methods through practical excursions, field attachments. I knew right away that farming is a profession with lots of potential and hope in Namibia. I did a research project on alternative source of protein, whereby I was looking at the chemical composition and in vitro digestibility of four leguminous forages.

In March 2022, Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) offered me an internship for 3 months, which I applied for. It was a unique experience to work at CCF in the field of my interest. I worked with livestock guarding dogs and small stock. Unfortunately, I have to terminate my contract due to some home issues. I am really very grateful for the opportunity as I learnt a lot about conservation agriculture, conserving cheetah using a model farm.

I went to Opuwo my hometown, where I was called to work as casual labourer for the year vaccination campaign at Opuwo state veterinary Office that I applied.

This is a great opportuny as I am getting more exposure in the area of animal health, handling clinical cases, vaccinating pets and livestock as well as in the area crush pan construction.

On the 30-08-2022 to 04-09-2022 I was temporarily hired by GIZ as a consultant to offer training in the community of Okorosave and Ondjete focusing on the nutrition during pregnancy, how to breastfeed a baby, food planning and hygiene and carrying practical on how to prepare complimentary food for the baby at 6 months of age.
